The Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has launched Canada Express Entry Program 2015. It started accepting applications under the scheme from January 2nd, 2015, from skilled professionals from all round the world.
What is Canada Express Entry?
Canada runs various economic immigration programs throughout the year to invite foreign skilled talent to migrate and settle in Canada. So CIC has introduced a new electronic system to effectively manage PR applications received through the immigration programs, this new electronic system is called Express Entry.
Current immigration programs run by CIC are:
• The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP).
• The Federal Skilled Trades Program.
• The Canadian Experience Class.
• A portion of the Provincial Nominee Program.
There is no cap as to the number of people who can submit their profile under the scheme. Skilled workers from various Skills, Experience, and professional backgrounds can put their profiles in the pool.
Why Canada Express Entry Scheme?
Express Entry to Canada allows certain federal government and provincial governments, and Canadian employers to short list potential immigrants from a pool of applications. Candidates who submit an expression of interest under any of the immigration programs and meet the eligibility criteria will be placed in a pool.
The Canadian Employers and Provinces will have access to the database pool where all profiles of skilled professionals and trades persons are placed, either through express entry for Canada or the newly introduced Canadian Job-Bank.
The government offices and employers looking for foreign talent can select the candidate(s) that meet their skill requirement and send their applications forward by approaching Department of Employment and Social Development, Government of Canada and apply for Labor Market Impact assessment. There from, the highest ranking candidates will be sent an Invitation to Apply (ITA) under any of the above Canadian economic immigration programs.
Upon receiving an ITA, candidates have to submit a fully completed PR application. The processing time for such applications will be 6 months or less.
What are Canada Express Entry Requirements?
Canada Express Entry requirements are similar to other economic immigration programs: age, English language proficiency, work experience (in and outside Canada), educational qualification, and an offer from a Canadian employer.

From January 1, 2015, Federal Skilled Worker applications are being processed through the Express Entry selection system for immigration to Canada. Candidates eligible under the Federal Skilled Worker Program must first make an expression of interest in immigrating to Canada by creating an online Express Entry profile.
The application selection process is just the same as other immigration visas. It requires you to take a point-based test, obtain 67 marks out of 100, and file a petition with the immigration department. The whole process is simple, straight forward, and has no hidden rules as such. Professionals whose occupations fall under the Skilled Occupation List (SOL) can take the assessment test, and upon receiving it positive, take the next step forward.
Federal Skilled Worker applications are assessed based on an applicant's ability to become economically established upon immigration to Canada.
In order to qualify for a Canada Permanent Resident Visa, Canadian Federal Skilled Worker (Professional) applicants must:
• Have at least one year of continuous full-time or equivalent paid work experience in the past 10 years in a skilled occupation (National Occupational Classification skill lever 0, A or B); or
• Qualify for Arranged Employment with a Labour Market Impact Assessment and a full-time, permanent job offer from a Canadian employer; or
• Have completed a PhD in Canada, or have completed two years of study in Canada towards a PhD, in both cases at a recognized institution;
• Pass a minimum threshold of language ability for one of Canada's two official languages (English/French).
In addition, Federal Skilled Worker (Professional) applicants must attain at least 67 points based on Citizenship and Immigration Canada's (CIC) immigration selection factors.
Processing time is around 12 months and may vary from one application to another. Application fee is affordable. Documentation is not cumbersome either. However, to make the whole process further trouble-free, our immigration experts from Canada department can be of great help to you.
